International Safety Management code workgroup session

International Safety Management (ISM) code workgroup session had been carried out in the Far Eastern Shipping Company.

Session agenda included analysis of FESCO ships arrest cases in 2005, analysis of fumigations carried in ports and voyages. Special emphasis was put to ships fire safety problems and SOLAS74 International Convention standards fulfillment by ships crews

FESCO ISM workgroup chairman, Director of FESCO Navigation Safety Department, Anatoliy Sidorenko noted that «among the ships arrests reasons we may note the growth of Port State Control inspections number in international ports, ship survival inspections of crews and Port Authorities control of technical condition of ships toughening».

One of the main questions is the problem of FESCO vessels preparation to autmn-winter navigation (from November 1 to March 1).

FESCO plans to revive the system of specially equipped offices for training and attestation of the crews and officers, aimed to improve the knowledge base and attestation tests system.
