In October 2018, Commercial Port of Vladivostok (VMTP, part of FESCO Transportation Group) handled 55.5 thousand TEU. This is a record monthly volume of container handling in VMTP's history. The previous record volume of 51.6 thousand TEU was set in May 2018.
For 10 months of 2018, the volume of containers transshipment amounted to 448 thousand TEU, which is 16% higher compared to the same period last year (385 thousand TEU). The speed of container handling increased as well: the average daily speed for January-October 2018 amounted to 271 cars, which is 17% higher compared to the same period in 2017 (231 units).
As part of the program of modernization of production capacities of the container terminal of VMTP, on 1 October, at VMTP there were installed two new rail mounted gantries. The production capacity of the gantries allows to carry out up to 840 operations per day, which will increase the processing speed in the rear of the terminal by 15-20%. Commissioning of the equipment is scheduled for 24 December 2018.
