At the Meeting committed to the results of the initial stage of the operations in the Tatar Straight, held on June 27-28 in Singapore, attended by EXXONMOBIL, PRISCO, UNICOM, GC RIEBER, SMIT Terminals division B.V. (cargo terminal in De-Kastri), “Exxon Neftegas Limited” Management awarded the crews of the Krasin and the Admiral Makarov (FESCO icebreakers), and of the oil-carriers, involved in crude oil transportations in the shipping season 2006-2007, with commemorative gifts with special presentation inscription.

Mr. V. Naganyuk, Director of Specialized Fleet Department, presented FESCO Transport Group at the ceremony and expressed special thanks to “Exxon Neftegas Limited” for high appraisal of FESCO icebreaker crew performance.

FESCO icebreakers the Krasin and the Admiral Makarov operated in the Tatar straight under the International Project “Sakhalin-1”. In compliance with the Agreement FESCO icebreakers will render ice-lead to PRISCO large-capacity Aframax crude oil-carriers (over 100.000 dwt) from De-Kastri for 10 years.

It is no coincidence that the Krasin and the Admiral Makarov are a choice to service the great International Oil & Gas Offshore Sakhalin projects due to the fact that FESCO seafarers are smart and well-experienced at navigation in adverse ice-condition. The crews of the above icebreakers proved many times their ability to fulfill the hardest tasks – ice-lead of the supply vessels to the Antarctic research station of the US National Research fund “McMurdo”, ship navigation in the Eastern Arctic, fleet ice-lead through the Northern Sea Route, ice-lead of the oil-carriers to the freezing port of Primorsk in the Baltic sea.

The presentation inscription, signed on behalf of James Tailor, Executive Vice-President, reads as follows: “EXXONMOBIL management, on behalf of the members of the “Sakhalin-1” Project Association, herewith pays homage to distinguished service of the crews of FESCO icebreakers the Krasin and the Admiral Makarov and expresses gratitude for high skilled qualification and commitment, leading to impeccable sea operation during the winter navigation 2006-2007”.

The Krasin was operated under commandment of Master Viktor Kovalchuk and the Admiral Makarov was commanded by Master Anatoliy Kovalenko during the winter navigation 2006-2007.
