Gondola (car)

An open-top railcar with high sides used for transportation of bulk cargo (ore, coal, fluxes, timber, etc.), containers and other cargo that does not require protection from weather conditions. Cargo loading and unloading is done through the top or the hatches located in the side walls or in the floor.
